MENA Geothermal signs a new contract to install a heating and cooling geothermal system for three villas in Jordan
Mar 25, 2013

Amman: MENA geothermal- Jordan, a leading company in the field of designing geothermal heating and cooling systems, signed an agreement to install a geothermal system for three luxurious villas in Al Humar area in Fuheis, Jordan.

The agreement was signed by company representative in Jordan and the three villa owners, in the company office in Amman.

Under this agreement, MENA geothermal will be responsible for installing a heating and cooling geothermal system for three adjacent villas, by creating a joint closed-loop pipe serving all three villas, with a cooling capacity of 66 tons and a heating capacity of 70 tons.

Mr. Khaled Al Sabawi, founder and President of MENA Geothermal, spoke about this achievement: “Signing this agreement is considered a crucial accomplishment in Jordan on both environmental and economic levels. This falls under the company’s main strategic goal to implement geothermal technology not only in Jordan, but in all other countries in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).” Additionally, he stated that Jordan, like other countries around the world, suffers from great deficiency in energy supply and from the constant increase of energy prices. Ninety-six percent of the energy needed to meet increasing demand in Jordan is imported from other countries (20% of Jordan’s total GDP), making it an urgent necessity to shift towards using geothermal energy instead of conventional heating and cooling systems. Going geothermal is more environmentally-friendly and economically feasible in a place like Jordan, hence MENA geothermal is expecting larger demand for geothermal energy in the near future.

Moreover, Mr. Al Sabawi, the first certified geothermal engineer in the entire MENA region spoke about the benefits of a geothermal system on both the environment and the economy: “According to the United States Environment Protection Agency (EPA), geothermal systems are the most energy efficient, environmentally clean and cost effective space conditioning systems available today. This geothermal system which will be installed in three villas in Jordan, will decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 166,807 kg per year, compared to conventional systems. Additionally, this system does not require maintenance, and decreases heating and cooling expenses by up to 70%.”

Mr. Al Sabawi added that MENA Geothermal works hard to provide its clients with exceptional services at affordable prices. Through its highly qualified engineers in the design and installation of HVAC mechanical systems, MENA Geothermal provides its services in a professional and credible manner and by applying high international standards. It is worth noting that MENA’s engineers are certified as: Commercial Geothermal Designers by the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition, and are accredited Installers by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA).

On a similar note, MENA Geothermal established its branch in Jordan in late 2012, where it’s currently witnessing rapid growth. It recently completed the design and installation of a geothermal system in the American University in Madaba. This project is the largest of its kind in the entire MENA region, and was awarded the prestigious Energy Globe Award, making MENA Geothermal a second time winner of this internationally recognized award. Finally it is worth mentioning that MENA Geothermal also signed an agreement to repair and complete the installation of a geothermal system for a large villa in Dabouk, Amman.

In Palestine, MENA Geothermal installed a geothermal system in the UCI headquarters building in Al Masyoun, Ramallah. This project was the launch of MENA Geothermal’s work in the region and it rapidly became the center of attention for several international organizations concerned with green and sustainable energy. MENA Geothermal won its first Energy Globe Award in 2008 for this project. Soon after, it designed and installed two other geothermal systems in Ramallah. The first was installed in an apartment in Arcadia Residential Complex and the second in a luxurious villa in the Etihad Villas, a project of MENA’s sister company- UCI, a leading Palestinian company in the field of construction and real-estate development, also managed by Mr. Al Sabawi.

On an international level, MENA Geothermal signed an agreement to provide consultancy services for two large geothermal projects in India.

Finally, MENA Geothermal was selected by Arabia500 as one of the most 500 dynamic and rapidly growing companies in the MENA region. Additionally, Mr. Khaled Al Sabawi, was selected by Arabian Business as one of the 500 most influential and powerful figures for the year 2012.
