Ramallah, Palestine – Union Construction and Investment’s (UCI) ambitious real estate project, TABO, is proud to announce a major infrastructure project with the Jerusalem District Electricity Company (JDECO), extending high and low voltage electricity networks to all TABO master plans in Qarawa Bani Zeid over the next six months.
CEO and Vice Chairman of UCI Eng. Khaled Al Sabawi negotiated the deal and signed an agreement at JDECO’s headquarters, with Ramallah Branch Manager of JDECO Eng. Mohammed Zidan. According to the agreement signed, the extension of electricity works is set to begin no later than April 18, 2019. A completion date of six months was agreed between both parties.
Located 22 kilometers north of Ramallah, Qarawa Bani Zaid is one of the areas TABO is working to bring low and high voltage underground networks to the West Bank, fulfilling UCI’s customer pledge to expand electricity access. The networks will extend across the entire area covered by TABO, bringing critical infrastructure to a region long-hampered by a weak power supply. Therefore, the project is not only a major step to fulfilling the needs of current and future TABO landowners, but also brings wider social and economic benefits to the residents of Qarawa town.
CEO and Vice Chairman of UCI Eng. Khaled Al Sabawi commended the progress in the area’s regeneration as the latest example of the company’s strong track record, which sees it develop the foundations for modern communities built to high international standards. The expansion of electricity networks is not only a tangible step towards establishing a thriving Palestinian community set against the backdrop of Qarawa’s stunning landscape, but the creation of a strong and sustainable Palestinian economy.
While such ambitious and extensive projects usually rely on assistance from foreign donors and states, UCI is the sole financier of the development. “We are proud that we have been able to maintain our financial independence,” said Mr. Al Sabawi, who is also the co-founder of TABO.
Mr. Al Sabawi thanked and expressed his appreciation to JDECO and its management, and provided assurances that UCI will continue to deliver real estate projects that help lay the foundations of a sustainable Palestinian economy.
Established in 2011, TABO was created as a solution to the lack of property rights in Palestine by creating title deeds for land in the West Bank, dividing the land into affordable one dunum parcels. TABO has developed infrastructure for all of its projects, which includes the paving of internal roads – which have now been finished in Ramallah and Salfit – and the building of model homes in a number of areas.
